Loraine Margaret Anderson died on Dec. 26, 2007 at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital surrounded by her family during her last hours.
She was born in Gresham to Dicie Laura (Tucker) and Vernon Wesley Keller. Her father was a logger, and the family moved through Western Oregon while she was growing up.
She graduated from Colton High School. A short time later, she followed her family to Tillamook where she met and married Floyd (Swede) Milton Anderson, who was stationed at Tillamook Naval Base. They were married on June 24, 1946 and celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in October 2006.
They lived for brief times in Minnesota; Happy Camp, Calif.; and other parts of Oregon. Most of their years were spent near Florence and in later years, Sweet Home.
She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, canning, cooking, sewing, gardening and caring for her family. In later years, she also enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting and selling glassware and other collectibles.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Elsie Keller of Mapleton; sisters-in-law Mae Harsh of Osakis, Minn., and Dagmar Anderson of Hawley, Minn.; brothers-in-law Roy and wife, Agnes, of Denver, Charles and wife, Marie, of Fargo, N.D., and Otto Bergstresser of Denver; sons, Doug and girlfriend, Pam Adams, of Sweet Home, Kevin of Sweet Home and Jeff and wife, Carol, of Cottage Grove; daughter Lisa and husband, Mark Aitken, of Sweet Home; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her youngest brother, John Keller; sister-in-law Bernice Bergstresser; brothers-in-law Harold Anderson and Howie Harsh.
It was her wish that no memorial service or funeral be held. Contributions may be given to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Portland.
