Lorraine Marie Wright, 91, of Sweet Home, passed away Oct. 26, 2022.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1931, in Clarke County, Iowa to Charles Foster and Edith Marie (Johnson) Stark.
Our cherished mother, grandmother and sister transitioned peacefully at home. Never one to stop seeking truth, she has gone to ask God some questions. Lorraine never stopped reading and seeking answers in any subject. Her lifelong pursuit of knowledge was with her till the end.
In the past Lorraine enjoyed square and round dancing, and there was not a step or call she did not know.
She was an accomplished seamstress and joyfully made quilts, a passion she passed on to her grandson. There was never a stitch too foreign, nor a tear she could not patch.
Lorraine sewed all manner of comfortable wears for anybody who asked, and blessed friends and family with her heartfelt homemade creations throughout her lifetime. She passed her sewing talents to her children and grandchildren.
Her food was unrivaled – canning fruits and veggies, drying exquisite fruit, baking homemade bread, and working magic with oatmeal.
Lorraine is survived by her sister Donna Francis of Salem; children L. Jeanette Vandiver of Arizona and Kris Allen Wright Sr. of Sweet Home; grandchildren Angela Friesen of Albany, Jessica Bishop of Olathe, Kan., Kris Wright Jr. of Springfield, Sarah Wright and Caroline Wright both of California, and Nathan Wright of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her son Bruce Wright of San Francisco, daughter Sherry Grant-Wright of Yakima, Wash., and brother Richard L. Stark of Livermore, Calif.
A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
