Lots of options

besides clinic

Editor:

I have been called a lot worse names than a Crips, Skinhead, Latin King or a member of a religious gang for standing firm in my convictions.

I don’t lend much credibility to Diane Daiute (July 19) because if she was in attendance on July 10 at the board meeting, she did not have the convictions to stand up and speak in favor of the proposed clinic.

If she had done her homework, she would realize just how many of the services that are being offered by the proposed school-based health centers are already being offered at the high school. I guess if you can’t take the time to sort out fact from fiction then name calling is a great substitute.

There is already a free clinic available in Sweet Home. It is called Linn County Health Clinic. Maybe the county should put all its extra money, time and effort into this clinic so it would become more available to the public.

Since when is the taxpayer responsible for your child’s reproductive health services? If there are parents in Sweet Home with the mindset that their students need productive health services, they need to provide it. There is no law saying that you can’t put a condom dispenser in your home or give your children a case of condoms for their birthday. Please bear in mind, condoms are only 87 percent effective but abstinence is 100 percent effective.

You can also sign your child up at Planned Parenthood, and they are most happy to teach your child everything you won’t teach them, except abstinence, and provide them with any and all reproductive services. They also promote abortion or “child birth rate reduction” as it is now called.

Don’t blame anyone else for your problems. Your life and your children are your responsibility not the Crips, Skinheads, Latin Kings and most certainly not the Christian Gangs of Sweet Home.
