Lucie Davis sets swimming records, qualifies for nationals

Lucie Davis of Sweet Home was the top finisher for Oregon in the 1,000 and 500 Freestyle events at the Speedo Champions Series Western Section Championships in Federal Way, Wash.

Davis, 15, was 13th in the 1000 Freestyle in 10:09.35 and 16th in the 500, in 4:58.05, both personal best times. Her 500 was the fastest ever swum by a Sweet Home High School athlete.

All of her freestyle swims were new Sweet Home Swim Club records, Coach Junia Calhoon said.

Davis also swam the 200 Freestyle (43rd in 1:53.63), 1650 (Mile) Freestyle (21st in 17:13.13), the 400 Individual Medley (110th in 4:42.22) and 200 IM (173rd in 2:16.70).

Her 500 and 1000 times qualify her for the NISCA Junior Nationals held in Florida. This is the first time Davis has qualified for a national meet.
