Lucille I. Lafayette

Lucille Isabelle Lafayette, 86, a resident of Dallas, died Nov. 10 at the Dallas Retirement Center.

She was born in Wray, Colo. on May 31, 1919, the daughter of Orville and Vera Lott Noffsinger. She moved to Ladvele, Colo. and married Joe Coffey and had a son, Jim. She moved to Lebanon in 1942.

In 1954, she married Erman J. Lafayette. They were married 23 years and then divorced.

Mrs. Lafayette worked for Scoville Real Estate from 1964 to 1969 in Brownsville and then got her own real estate license in the early 1970s.

The Lafayettes moved to the Holley area of Sweet Home in 1976 where they owned a farm. Mrs. Lafayette?s brother, Lloyd, was a real estate broker and they worked together as partners for many years. She did tax consulting for many years while she was a real estate broker. Her son Julian took over the farm in 1990 and Mrs. Lafayette continued to help with the books. She stayed with Julian two days a week in Rickreall until 1997.

In 1997, she moved to Dallas and retired in 1998. She was a member of the Sweet Home and Dallas Christian Missionary Alliance churches. She enjoyed accounting, tax consulting, yard and garden work and being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Julian Lafayette of Rickreall and Mark Lafayette of Madras, sister Josey Homedew of North Bend, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Coffey, in 2004 and a granddaughter in 2001, brothers and sisters Cordelia (Corky) Walker, Ruby Marlene Swanson, Opal Bowes, Lloyd E. Noffsinger, Harold Orval Noffsinger, H. Lavern (Phil) Noffsinger and Bernice A. Laux.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Crawfordsville Community Church. Vault interment will follow in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dallas Alliance Church.
