Lurlyn Eriksen

Lurlyn Marciel (Preston) Eriksen, 74, of Lebanon died Oct. 5, 2007.

She was born Jan. 20, 1933 in Lebanon to Harold Martin and Euzell (Prince) Preston. She attended school in Lebanon (with the exception of second grade in Mosier), graduating from Lebanon Union High School in 1951. She attended two years at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Her employment began in 1953 with Cascade Plywood, which was purchased by U.S. Plywood in 1962, then became part of Champion International in 1967. She retired from Champion in 1985

She married Robert Eriksen on June 18, 1954 at her grandparents’ home in Lebanon. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan, Utah, Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Aug. 4, 1955.

Mrs. Eriksen will be remembered for her many years of service within the various organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, particularly with the youth. Her love for music, camping, ocean beaches, and travel brought many years of joy and created happy memories for her family members. She was a friend to all and demonstrated much love and compassion toward others.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Eriksen; three children, Lisa (James) Smith of Gilbert, Ariz., Karma (LaDall) Mooso of Hillsboro, and Marta (Peter) Steele of Salem; a brother, Howard Kay Preston, of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dona Jean Plagmann.

Friends and family may attend a gathering from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1955 South Fifth St., in Lebanon with viewing one hour prior in the Relief Society Room. Graveside services will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
