Mabel Baxter

Mabel Nettie Baxter, 97, of Crawfordsville died Nov. 15, 2015.

She was born Feb. 14, 1918 in Fruita, Colo., the daughter of Clyde and Nettie Mae (Meadows) Barker.

She married Warren Marion Baxter on March 17, 1934 in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Baxters moved to Sweet Home in 1942.

She owned and operated two restaurants over the years, one in Albany and one in Sweet Home.

Mrs. Baxter was a member of the Sweet Home Assembly of God Church and the Crazy Eight Club in Holley.

Mrs. Baxter is survived by two sons, Douglas and daughter-in-law Ellen Baxter of Culp Creek and Ernest and daughter-in-law Pat Baxter of Sweet Home; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Baxter in 1990; two brothers; two sisters; one adopted brother; and a great- grandson, Cody McFarland.

A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.

Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
