Maple Drive house fire snuffed

A malfunctioning bathroom vent fan sparked a fire Monday, April 24, at a home in the 4900 block of Maple Drive, according to the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District.

The fire was mostly contained to the bathroom, with minor extension into the attic space around the fan.

Occupants were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector, and attempted to extinguish the fire, keeping it at bay until responders arrived. Six personnel responded to the scene, with the ladder truck.

The fire was extinguished within 24 minutes of dispatch, and crews remained on scene for another 30 minutes completing overhaul to ensure that the fire was out and had not extended further into the structure. No injuries were reported.

Damage to the structure and contents was estimated at $25,000.
