Margaret Walton

June 14, 1931 – May 4, 2015

Margaret Louise (Pogo) Walton, 83, of Sweet Home, died May 4, 2015 in Albany, of natural causes.

Margaret was born on June 14, 1931 in Camas, Wash., to Robert L. and Elizabeth (Taylor) Tucker who proceeded her in death. Margaret has two sisters, Dorothy Lamearoux and Patricia Fisher, both of Roseburg.

Growing up, Margaret lived in Camas, Denver, Colo. and Roseburg, where she graduated from Roseburg High School. While in high school, she met Harold E. (Zeke) Walton.

Margaret married Harold, who was her high school sweetheart on Feb. 18, 1951.

Zeke and Margaret had three children: Patricia J. Walton of Sweet Home; Mark E. Walton (Kathy) of Salem; and John M. Walton of Sweet Home.

Besides her children and sisters, Margaret is survived by her grandchildren, Katie Mask (Shawn) of Scio; Sean Walton (Anne) of Newberg; and Zachary E. Walton (Ellie) of Salt Lake City, Utah. She has five great- grandchildren: Ashley Mask and Kade Mask of Scio, Sidney Jessica Maria Walton of Kent, Wash., Emmett Walton of Salt Lake City, and Jacoby Walton of Newberg. Margaret also has many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mom and only worked to buy her parents or her children something special.

She was a Christian and attended churches in Roseburg, Florence and La Pine. Margaret and Zeke raised their children in Florence, and upon retirement moved to La Pine, Bend, and Sweet Home.

As for her life, Margaret’s No. 1 focus was her children. She was active in Cub Scouts and was a Girl Scout leader in Florence.

A major passion was traveling, especially with Zeke, her husband of 43 years. The stories Mom would tell of their travels and experiences were often very humorous.

She was also a master seamstress making clothes for many in Florence who to this day talk about her skill, craftsmanship, and love of sewing. Margaret loved to read, and later in life she liked to read about the history and stories of the Northwest.

At Margaret’s request, no service will be held and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Evergreen Hospice Center in Albany.
