Marilyn Kay Wood, 83, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born February 17, 1941 to Cecil Leslie and Lorene Marie (Fillmore) Coffman in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was raised in Salem by her mother and step father Ernest Britton. She graduated from South Salem in 1959.

Marilyn met Raymond Wood at a Sweet Home football game and danced the night away. She married Raymond and moved to Sweet Home in 1959. Shortly after being in Sweet Home they bought property on Liberty Road where she lived the rest of her life. Marilyn and Raymond divorced in 1982 after 21 years.

She worked at Sweet Home School District for 17 years, worked security for 17 years, and finally retired from Walmart after 20 years in 2019.

Marilyn loved her horses and cats. She liked doing ceramics, drawing and was very crafty. She enjoyed going to the ocean to fish.

She is survived by her daughters: Kathy, Cheryl, Marian; seven grandchildren: Cari, Raymond, Suzan, Danielle, Tyler, Tressa, Travis and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Raymond Wood, and 3 month son Randal.

A celebration of life will be 12 pm Saturday, September 7th, at the old Liberty school/charter school. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. www.sweethomefuneral.com.
