Marilyn Lois Koontz, 80, passed away peacefully on Aug.17, 2026, at Evergreen Hospice House in Albany, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born Feb. 8, 1946 in Albany to Marvel Mishler and Ida Lois Mishler (Irwin). She grew up in Brownsville.
In 1966, Marilyn married Troy A. Koontz. They welcomed their son, Michael A., in 1969. Troy was tragically killed in 1971, before the birth of their daughter, Michelle L., later that year.
In 1974, Marilyn married Kenneth R. Koontz.
Marilyn was known for her exceptional sewing skills, her love of flowers, and her “famous” monster cookies. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Kenneth Koontz; her son, Michael Koontz; her granddaughter, Erin Koontz; and her daughter, Michelle Lehto and her husband, Brad.
No service is planned at this time.
