Mario Michel Santana, 82, of Sweet Home died Nov. 30, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 9, 1930 in Guadalajara, Mexico to Manuel and Maria Guadalupe (Michel) Santana.
He served as a military police officer in Mexico City before moving to California in 1955. He moved his family to Sweet Home in August 1963.
Mr. Santana worked in the lumber industry from 1958 until his retirement in 1992. He was an active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home.
He enjoyed working on his ranch and being in his shop. He also enjoyed watching boxing and western movies. He truly loved his family and spending time with them.
Mr. Santana is survived by his wife Rosa; children Mario and daughter-in-law Nancy Santana, Arlene Santana, Elaine and son-in-law Moy Moreno, Randy and daughter-in-law Mandy Santana, Scott and daughter-in-law Trish Santana, and Chomo and daughter-in-law Renee Santana; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
Viewing and recitation of the rosary will be noon Saturday, Dec. 8t, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will follow at 1 p.m. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
