Mary V. Emmert, 92, of Sweet Home died June 22, 2006.
She was born Feb.15, 1914 in Marrin, Alberta, Canada to Henry and Velina (Brubaker) Casebeer. In 1929, at the age of 15, she came to Oregon with her family from Alberta. While living in Sheridan she met Ralph Emmert. They were married on Oct. 18, 1931.
Their early years of marriage took them from Sheridan, Molalla and finally to Sweet Home in 1937, where she resided for the rest of her life.
After losing her husband Ralph in 1960, Mrs. Emmert completely dedicated her life to raising her two children left at home and enjoying her older son and his family, flowers and church work. Then she worked at White’s Electronics for 10 years.
Mrs. Emmert had a very deep faith and was very loyal to her entire family. She enjoyed baking and entertaining and was famous for her chocolate cakes, cinnamon rolls and delicious cookies. Her great-grandchildren referred to her as “Grandma Cookie.” Her therapy was working in her beautiful flower garden.
She loved and appreciated her home and everyone at Wiley Creek Assisted Living for 7 1/2 years. After increasing disabilities, her last few weeks were spent at Twin Oaks Care Center.
She is survived by her children, Loren and Evelyn Emmert of Sweet Home, Sandra and Leon Olson of Sweet Home and Stanley and Tess Emmert of Salem; sister Marge Cosens of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
