Feb. 10, 1937 – July 24, 2021
Mary Jane Rozell, 84, of Lebanon passed away at home at 2:40 p.m. on July 24, 2021, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Mary was born in Bend, Oregon to Carmen (Maldonado) and Walter B. Hyde on Feb. 10 1937. She was the middle sister of Betty and Margaret.
She moved to Sweet Home at a young age. Mary attended Sweet Home Union High School, where she met Darold G. Rozell. They married shortly after she graduated in 1956. She and Darold raised their three children in Sweet Home.
They were both well known and loved in the community. After Darold retired, they became snowbirds, and spent half of the year living in Yuma, Ariz. Mary loved traveling around the U.S. in their RV (especially when they got to take the grandkids).
She was an active member of the Lebanon First United Methodist Church and the Lebanon Senior Center; and an avid scrapbooker.
Mary is survived by her children, Gary Rozell and Stacie Steinbacher; grandchildren Sara Coonrod-Yamasaki, Emily Carter, Jessica Evans, and Jamie Steinbacher; great-grandson Ace Steinbacher; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Darold Rozell; her son, Darold Dewayne Rozell; parents Carmen and Walter Hyde; and sisters Betty Jo Mullenix and Margaret Ann Ringheimer.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Lebanon Samaritan Hospital; Samaritan Cancer Research Center; Avamere Rehabilitation Center; Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, and especially to April Valle, who was an unimaginable support during the final weeks.
Viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at Oddfellows Cemetery in Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mary’s name to the Lebanon Community Foundation – designate to Diabetes.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
