Mary Amelia Parks, 76, of Sweet Home, died May 2, 2006. She was born April 29, 1930 to Justus and Bessie Jayne in Molalla, though she grew up in Canby, Oregon.
She married Cecil Parks on Sept. 19, 1948; they had a son and daughter, Steven and Karen. Mrs. Parks lived in Sweet Home since 1953 and worked as secretary for the Sweet Home School District from 1965 until her retirement in April of 1992.
Mrs. Parks loved gardening, music and flowers. She cherished her family and was said to have a knack for shopping. She enjoyed singing and was involved in the Singing Christmas Tree and Sweet Adelines. She kept a nice, organized home and was very active in her church.
She is survived by a son, Steven Parks of Albany; a daughter, Karen Arnold of Sweet Home; a sister, Lela Cobb of Olympia, Wash.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother; her sister, Madeline Huiras; and her husband, Cecil.
Services were held May 6 at 18th and Long Church of Christ. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made out to Evergreen Hospice or Sweet Home Church of Christ at 18th and Long and can be forwarded to Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel.
