Ma’s Restaurant hit by burglar(s)

Sweet Home police are investigating the burglary of Ma’s Restaurant, 4219 Main St., and the theft of an ATM machine on Nov. 15.

Police received a report of the burglary at 10:14 a.m. on Sunday. The burglary occurred during the night, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn.

“There was no sign of forced entry into the building. Officers are tracking down a few leads on it.”

The burglar took an ATM, coins from the cash register and after-dinner mints, Lynn said. The ATM machine was not secured to the building and was smaller than the type found at banks, although it was not portable.

Police continue to investigate two other commercial burglaries from two weeks ago, including the Bohemian Tavern and Sunshine Espresso. Police arrested two suspects in a third burglary, at Midway Grocery, two weeks ago.

At the Bohemian, the burglar cut a hole into the office, crawled inside and stole a portable safe, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. Police have not identified a suspect yet but are continuing to investigate. The total value of the loss is more than $5,000.

At Sunshine, a burglar entered the bathroom and stole first-aid kits that were part of a fund-raising event to help Sweet Home cheerleaders pay expenses associated with cheer season. The value of the loss is $632.

None of the first-aid kits have been found, Lynn said, and the police are still investigating that case as well.
