McDowell Creek resident arrested after shooting

A McDowell Creek Road resident was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly shot a friend after an argument.

At 3:08 a.m. on July 27, 2009, deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to 41875 McDowell Creek Road, Sheriff Tim Mueller said.

Jonathan Christopher Arms, age 28, who lives at the residence, called 9-1-1 and said he had accidentally shot his friend. The shooting followed an altercation between Arms and his roommate, Ryan Patrick Savolt, 29, Mueller said.

Savolt sustained a gunshot wound to the neck from a .45-caliber revolver. His girlfriend took him to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, Mueller said. Arms was lodged in the Linn County Jail on attempted murder and first-degree assault charges.
