Four future physicians from east Linn County have received a Girod Medical Scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year.
In addition, the foundation awarded an Easton Nursing Scholarship to one Sweet Home student and a Dinges scholarship to one Lebanon student who will begin studies this fall at Linn-Benton Community College.
The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation administers the three scholarships on behalf of the families of the late Dr. Frank Girod and Rachel Easton, RN as well as John and Carol Dinges, who award their scholarship to an east Linn County student in an entry-level health career program at LBCC.
The Girod scholars are:
– Austin Kleint of Lebanon, who will begin his first year at COMP-Northwest this fall;
– Whitley Faye Nelson, who grew up in the Lebanon/Sweet Home area, will begin her first year at COMP-Northwest;
– Laurene Reed of Lebanon, who will begin her fourth year at COMP-Northwest; and
– Logan Van Essen of Lebanon, who will begin his fourth year at Oregon Health & Science University.
– Laurie Boyd of Sweet Home received the Easton scholarship for her second year in the LBCC nursing program.
– Taylor Joy Bardell of Lebanon, who will graduate from East Linn Christian Academy this spring, received the Dinges scholarship for her studies in the LBCC certified medical assistance program.
The foundation welcomes all contributions toward these scholarship funds.
