Meet Princess Meaghan Schaefer

Alex Paul

Being a member of the Sportsman’s Holiday court has been a fun experience for Princess Meaghan Schaefer.

Princess Meaghan, 17, is the daughter of Mike and Karen Schaefer. She has a sister, Kalee, 20, a junior at Oregon State and brothers, Kristopher, 15, a ninth grader and Kieran, 12, a sixth grader.

“It’s been a fun experience and it’s not bad that we get to wear crowns, too,” Princess Meaghan said of the court experience.

Carrying a 3.84 GPA at SHHS, Princess Meaghan was active in Key Club, leadership, track and field and the annual art show.

She also helps at her church Sunday School, the Vacation Bible School and is a blood drive volunteer.

Her hobbies include art and violin. She works at Safeway as a courtesy clerk.

She says the best way to improve her community is to volunteer her time.

Princess Meaghan believes she’s a good role model for others because, “I achieve good grades, I volunteer my time in the community and I enjoy doing it.”

A best friend would say that Princess Meaghan is, “always friendly, caring and nice.”

The beautiful Cascade Mountains, especially in the summer time, when it’s hot, are what Princess Meaghan enjoys most about Sweet Home.

Her parents are her heroes because, “They’ve been through a lot and are still there for me.”

If she could live in another time period, Princess Meaghan would,” live in the 20’s and 30’s because of the clothes the women wore and the swing music. I would like in New York City because it is the center of American business and because the immigrants created such a diversity there.”
