Meet Sportsman’s Holiday Princess Taylor Goodwin

Taylor Goodwin, 16, joined the Sportsman’s Holiday Court to become a bigger part of her community.

Goodwin will be a senior at Sweet Home High School. She is the daughter of Josh and Tiffany Starha. She has two siblings, Daniel Goodwin and Brodie Starha.

After graduation, she would like to attend college and become a certified nursing assistant. After completing the CNA program, she would like to become a nurse, like her mother.

Goodwin loves riding horses with her neighbors and friends, she said.

“I enjoy swimming at the lake in the summer. I like spending time with my friends and family and making memories. I also really enjoy volunteering at the fire department and at the Jamboree.”

Throughout the school year, she spends most of her time in the high school cheer program and working at A&W.

She has lived in Sweet Home all her life.

“I love how pretty much everyone in Sweet Home knows each other,” Goodwin said. “I have made a lot of friends, and connections with people everywhere. I love how supportive a lot of the people are.

“When I got the application to be on the court, I immediately told my whole family. I was so happy to be chosen to be a part of something this important. I have always looked up to the girls on the court in the past, and I wanted to be one of them.

“I have always wanted to be a bigger part of the community, and be someone people that are younger than me can look up to.

“I feel like being on the court is going to help me create more relationships with the people of our community. This will definitely make memories that are going to last a lifetime with so many people.”

Her favorite part of Sportsman’s Holiday is the parade and the fireworks show, Goodwin said. “Also, I really enjoy seeing the whole community coming together and just having a good time.”
