Meet the 2013 Sportsman’s Holiday Court: Alex Olin

Princess Alex Olin, 16, is the daughter of Steve and Tracy Olin of Sweet Home.

“I think it is the most important thing in life to give what you’ve been given, and I plan to reach out and give all I can in Sweet Home and all of Oregon and go on to be a strong leader of Sweet Home and its wonderful people,” Alex said.

Alex will be a junior at Sweet Home High School. She is a year-round cheerleader, both competitively and during the off season. She is involved in track and field, the Make a Change Club, class board and GEAR UP. She also is on the honor roll.

Alex works at The Point Restaurant.

Alex is a volunteer at Sweet Home Emergency Ministries, and she is a coach in elementary school track. She volunteers at the annual Foster School carnival and is a cheer coach at the elementary and junior high levels. She will be among 20 Oregon cheerleaders this year at the Shrine Bowl fund-raising game.

Alex enjoys gymnastics at Vertex Gym in Lebanon, long runs around Foster Lake, camping and being with friends.

“Cheer has been the biggest influence in my life,” Alex said. “It has taught me to work hard and to never give up on your dreams in life.

“We now have two state championships and are already working toward a third. I love my team and my coaches, and they have all pushed me to some great things.”

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Oregon and major in pediatrics with a minor in forensics.

She would like to become a pediatrician and move to Sisters or Bend.
