Meet the 2013 Sportsman’s Holiday Court: Brittany Poteet

Princess Brittany Poteet, 16, is the daughter of Joseph and Christina Poteet of Sweet Home.

She joined the Sportsman’s Holiday Court “to volunteer and learn more about my community,” Brittany said. “I would like to be a role model for other people in my community.”

She will be a junior at Sweet Home High School. She is involved in the Forestry Club, the Make a Change group, volleyball and basketball.

She also volunteers with 4-H, Sweet Home Emergency Ministries, Hawthorne Elementary and Linn County Horse Rescue.

Brittany enjoys fishing, crabbing, horseback riding, crafts, knitting, drawing, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

“The biggest influence in my life has to be my parents,” Brittany said. “They have taught me to set goals and that I have to work hard in order to achieve them.”

She plans to attend Linn-Benton Community College for a year then transfer to Oregon State University. She plans to study veterinary medicine.

“I would like to work in the community as a large animal vet,” she said.
