Meet the Court: Princess Isabella Wagner

Princess Isabella is the daughter of Cristina Gutierrez and Brian Wagner and has just finished her junior year at Sweet Home High School. She attended Foster School, where her favorite teacher was “Mrs. Yon.” She has two siblings, Lilly Basl, 12, and Moses Basl, 10.

Favorite Activities? Job?

I have done volleyball, softball, golf and Leadership in high school. I love to go paddle boarding and kayaking. I also like to go on hikes.

On Saturdays I’m usually at friends. Then we go to church on Sunday and have Bible study.

I do not currently have a job.

What is your favorite thing about living in Sweet Home?

My favorite thing about Sweet Home is the community it brings to everyone.

Why did you join the Sportsman’s Holiday Court?

I applied for Sportsman’s Holiday because my mom and my aunt were princesses and they told me it was a great opportunity for myself.

What are you looking forward to during Sportsman’s Holiday? What have you enjoyed so far about being on the court?

I’m looking forward to the rodeo this year because it hasn’t happened in a while. Going to the elementary schools has had an impact because it’s amazing to see how much of role models we truly are to younger kids.

What charity/nonprofit did you choose to advocate for and why?

Camp Attitude, because of all of the good they do for the community. They are a summer camp for others who wouldn’t usually be able to go and it is all nonprofit.

If you had one day to show someone the best day ever in Sweet Home, what would that day look like?

I would first take them to Taylor Made for biscuits and gravy. Then we would go for a little hike while it’s still cold outside. Then we would go out on paddle boards off Sunnyside. Then we would end the day with dinner at The Point.

What advice would you give a younger “you” about school, friendships, other choices?

That good friends will show up for you and show why they are your friends.

Do you have an adult figure who has inspired you? If so, who is that and why?

My favorite teacher would probably be Mrs. Parrish because you can tell she has a real love for her students and her job. She makes her classes and makes sure all of her students are doing well.

What is your favorite subject in school and what are your goals for your final year of high school?

My favorite subject in school is anatomy and physiology, because I find it very fascinating how the body works. Mrs. Snyder is also an amazing teacher and does well for the class to be enjoyable. Some of my personal goals are to get some pretty good scholarships for college and successfully get into a good college.
