Princess Peyton Lindsey is the daughter of Austin and Robyn Lindsey, and sister to Isaac, 19, and Colten, 13.
She chose to fundraise for Sweet Home Women’s Fire Association, which participates in numerous community volunteer aspects, including the Christmas Sharing Tree, monthly drill dinners, Turkey Bingo and scholarships for females going into the medical field.
“I chose them because this organization does a lot for our community and the people in it, but they also don’t get very much attention or money raised for them.”
In high school, Lindsey participated in the cheer team, wrestling and class board, and mentored youth and mint cheer teams. She currently works for Sunshine Espresso.
Her personal goals in high school next year are to apply for scholarships, visit five colleges she’s interested in, “and, most importantly, make the most unforgettable memories with my friends and cheer team.”
Lindsey joined the Sportsman’s Holiday Court because, she said, she’s always loved the annual city event.
“So I wanted to share my love for the community while also raising money for a good cause,” she said.
Her favorite Sportsman’s Holiday tradition is the parade.
“Watching all of the floats and people be a part of something in or for Sweet Home is one of my favorite things,” she said.
The best parade-watching spot, in her opinion, is in front of the high school. And her best advice for parade watchers? “I would recommend they bring a comfy chair, lots of water, sunscreen and something to be in the shade with.”
Now that she sits on the Holiday Court, Lindsey said she’s looking forward to the parade.
“I absolutely love seeing the princesses every year, so being able to be one this year in the parade is so fun and amazing,” she said.
If she could meet someone from a different decade and have dinner with them, Lindsey said she would like to meet Marilyn Monroe because she was a feminist icon and battled for gender equality.
Going with this year’s Sportsman’s Holiday theme, “Diamonds and Decades,” Lindsey was asked which decade she identifies with from a fashion standpoint.
“Definitely the ’90s,” she responded. “I love the fashion from them and think it is the cutest stuff ever.”
Lindsey described how she would showcase Sweet Home to a friend.
“I would start the day off with breakfast at The Point, where we would then go and hike the beautiful trail at McDowell Creek. From there we would go to the fish hatchery and feed the fish.”
For lunch, they would visit the iconic A&W for root beer floats, cheese curds and a burger. Afterward, she would take her friend to the movie theater for a show.
“Then we would finish our day where we started at The Point, eating amazing food while seeing the sunset over the lake out on the patio.”
Her favorite thing about Sweet Home is that everyone knows everyone else in the community and they are all always there for each other.
“A lot of communities aren’t like ours,” she said. “We show up for those who need it, and we are always willing to help everyone no matter what. Our small businesses get so much love from everyone, it is beautiful and amazing and wonderful.”
