Dean and Lou Melling of 5524 Daniel Dr., Rohnert Park, Calif., will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 21.
Dora Lou Pittsley and Dean Melling of Sweet Home were married on Aug. 21, 1953. They met at and graduated from Sweet Home High School.
The couple lived for a short time after marriage in Sweet Home. They moved to Arizona where Mr. Melling attended college and became an ordained Baptist minister. He served in several churches in Washington and Oregon before moving to California.
Mr. Melling retired from the State of California after working as counselor at San Quentan Prison and spending many years as a parole officer.
Mr. Melling enjoys working on sports cars and woodworking.
Mrs. Melling spent many years working as a legal secretary. She enjoys painting, playing he piano and giving piano lessons.
They have three children, Susan Chikosky of Rohnert Park, Calif., Luanne Ebright of Sabestopal, Calif., and David Melling of Rohnert Park, Calif. They have four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Melling will celebrate their 50th anniversary by going on a trip planned by their children, including Cayusco and several surprises along the way.
They request no gifts. Cards from friends who remember them would be a great surprise and sure to please them.
