Melvin Duane Walker, 73, of Sweet Home died June 27, 2012.
He was born June 17, 1939 in Sweet Home to Thomas Vernon and Rita Jewell (Chambers) Walker. Sweet Home is where he remained and he was known and loved by many.
Mr. Walker spent 40 years in the car business, partnering with his brother Bob during the last 24 of those in Walker Bros. Auto Sales of Sweet Home.
He was a member of the Elks for 46 years. He loved the Lord and attended Calvary Chapel of Lebanon.
Mr. Walker enjoyed garage sales, buying homes, remodeling properties and selling them. He still enjoyed the occasional buying and selling of cars and trucks.
He is survived by his wife, Sonya Elaine (Lovely) Walker of Sweet Home; son Daniel Wayne Walker of Sweet Home; three stepchildren, Jeffrey D. Brennan Jr., Nicole D. (Brennan) Davis, both of Lebanon, and Michael E. Nickell of Molalla; brother Bob G. Walker of Sweet Home; sister Margaret Lucile (Walker) Loux of Sweet Home; and one grandson.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Duane Walker in 1982; two brothers, Thomas (Toad) Vernon Walker Jr. and William Dale Walker; two sisters, Artis Jewell Walker and Zoa Louise Walker; and his parents, Tom and Rita Walker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Sweet Home Mennonite Church, 1266 44th Ave. Private burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
