Michael Miller

March 14, 1940 – Dec. 10, 2018

Michael Kent Miller, 78, of Sweet Home, died peacefully Dec. 10, 2018 at home with his wife in attendance.

He was born March 14, 1940 in Lebanon to Joe and Elouise (Littell) Miller. The family moved frequently because of his father’s job as a pilot for Alaskan Airlines.

Mr. Miller graduated from Weber High School in Ogden, Utah, and after studying electronics and math in college, went to work for Boeing.

He worked on the Minuteman missile and other secret projects and helped with the installation and build on Boeing’s first computer.

He was later recruited by RCA and moved to Alaska to work with the White Alice Project to repair and calibrate test equipment.

He was then recruited by Alascom  and worked there until moving to Oregon with his third wife, Mary Anne Miller to be closer to his mom, brother and sister.

Mr. Miller enjoyed working in his shop, making custom knives.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Miller of Sweet Home; three sons, David and Douglas of Anchorage, Alaska, Dennis of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Annette Miller-Deakins of Green River, Wyo.; ex-wife LaVerne Belle Miller of Anchorage; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held to scatter his ashes at Hidden Lake in Alaska.
