Michael James Owen, 58, of Cascadia died May 7, 2011 in his sleep, while holding the hand of his soul mate Rosie Evans.
He was born April 7, 1953 in Salem.
He was the lead vocalist of the country-rock band The Night Riders in Clay Center, Kan. He was an amazing musician with a beautiful voice who performed in multiple concerts and musical shows in the Kansas area. His off-beat sense of humor, crazy stories, laughter and voice will be remembered by all. He never met a stranger and brought joy to many. He loved playing his guitar, singing, hiking, fishing, shooting, mushroom hunting and the beautiful mountains of Oregon.
Mr. Owen had a passion for cooking as well. He had many talents and a great love for life that he shared with his true love Rosie, and his children over the years. He was a great friend with a huge heart that enjoyed bringing happiness to others. He was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all.
Mr. Owen was a friend and employee of Timber Harvest Inc. Logging Company, in Sweet Home, where he worked for many years. As a watchman for Melcher Logging he was able to enjoy the things he loved most in life.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Welliver Owen; brothers Rick and Tim Owen of Green, Kan.; children Joshua Cranmer, Jessica Hobbs, Jason Owen, Bonnie Owen and step-son Johnny MacDonald; and seven grandchildren.
