May 6, 1947 – Nov. 1, 2015, Michael Loyd Pickett, 68, of Sweet Home died Nov. 1, 2015 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Corvallis, of complications following an ankle fusion.
He was born May 6, 1947 in Sweet Home to Loyd and Alberta Pickett, one of four children.
He was a graduate of Sweet Home High School and attended Lane Community College.
Mr. Pickett married Luwana Whetsler in 1966; they divorced in 1997. In 2004 he married Cheri Parksion.
He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for most of his life. His health forced an early retirement.
Mr. Pickett loved classic cars, particularly his 1964 Falcon. He was a member of the Rollin’ Oldies Car Club of Lebanon. He also enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes and was in the process of building a new one.
Mr. Pickett is survived by his wife, Cheri; sons Patrick and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, Randy and fiancée Sue, Ben and daughter-in-law Trisha, and Jim and daughter-in-law Natasha; stepdaughter Angela Crespo and her husband Dave; stepson Chris Parksion and his wife Kellie; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Victoria.
A memorial service was held Nov. 7 at the Evangelical Church in Sweet Home.
