Michael Dean Youravish, 71, of Sweet Home died Nov. 25, 2011.
He was born July 13, 1940 in Page, W.V., to George Joe and Anna Elizebeth (Shyblasky) Youravish.
He graduated from junior high in West Virginia and went to Cast Technical High School in Detroit and graduated from there. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the war in Vietnam.
After eight years he retired from the military. He worked as a police sergeant in Gustine, Calif. for 13 years.
After that he moved to Bandon and worked for the County Sheriff’s department as an animal control officer. He eventually came to Sweet Home and worked as the center supervisor at the Children’s Farm Home in Corvallis. He retired six years ago.
Mr. Youravish was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Youravish of Sweet Home; sons Michael David Youravish of Ontario, Steve Anthony Youravish of Sweet Home and Jim John Youravish of Bandon; a brother, Jerry Anthony Youravish of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
