Michelle R. McElhiney-Hicks, 43, of Cascadia died Dec. 14, 2013 at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.
She was born November 29, 1970 in Petersburg, Texas, the daughter of Roger and Angelina (Gomez) McElhiney. As a child, she lived in many places before moving to Lebanon in 1984, where she attended middle school and graduated Lebanon High School in the Class of 1989.
Mrs. McElhiney-Hicks was a natural carpenter and plumber, was very artistic, loved beading and rock hounding. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Sweet Home for several years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Hicks of Cascadia; mother Angelina McElhiney of Lebanon; stepmother Wilma McElhiney of Lebanon; son Jacob and daughter-in-law Krystal Potter of Lebanon; daughter Roxanne Hicks of California; brothers John McElhiney and Anthony Gomez of Texas, and Tim Braith of California; sisters Erica McElhiney of Lebanon, and Lee Ann Castillo and Corina Gomez, both of Texas; two grandsons; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger; and a brother, Dino Gomez.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon. A gathering will follow, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Veteran’s Club in Sweet Home, 580 Main St.
