The Sweet Home Midget American baseball team took first place in its second tournament of the year, in South Salem last weekend. Sweet Home started with a loss to Reedsville, then came back and won three in a row. One of the wins was against West Albany, to whom the local had lost earlier in the season.
Going into the last game Sunday evening, Sweet Home was in a three-way tie for first place. In order to win the tournament the team could not allow more then one run. The boys won 11-0.
The winners are, in front, from left, Dylan Laster, Devon Dixon, Nate Virtue, Keegan Holly, Nick McIntyre and Kobe Olson. In rear, from left, are, Coach Chet Elder, Devin Stafford, Daniel Virtue, JC Elder, Keanu Aiona, Tyler Funk, Colton Smith and Coach Joe Stafford. The team second place in its first tournament of the year, May 9-10 in Silverton, winning three games before falling to Silverton in the championship game.
