Mildred Vroman

Mildred “Midge” Vroman, 87, of Scio, died Oct. 1, 2007 at her home.

She was born Feb. 5, 1920 in Roseburg to Robert James and Alice Viola (Brumbach) Hatfield.

She was known as “Midge” to everyone.

She married Donald M. Leverich on Nov. 8, 1941. He had a daughter from a previous marriage, Sylvia Irene. Their son Donald Steven Leverich was born in 1945. They moved their family to Dixonville in 1947 where they bought a grocery store. They sold that store and moved to Cloverdale in 1950 and lived there until 1960 when they moved to Sweet Home.

Mr. Leverich died on June 8, 1972 and his widow stayed in Sweet Home. She married Earl Vroman on April 4, 1984. He died two years later.

Mrs. Vroman lived in Sweet Home until she moved to Scio with her son and daughter-in-law in 2001.

She worked at White’s Electronics in Sweet Home for a few years after Mr. Leverich’s passing and prior to her second marriage. She liked to garden and work with ceramics.

She is survived by her son, Donald Steven Leverich of Scio; step-daughter, Sylvia Rego of Chandler, N.C.; brother, Jim Hatfield of Aumsville; sister, Louise Nims of Hebo;, three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald M. Leverich and Earl Vroman; grandson, Richard Ward; two brothers, Joe and Pete Hatfield; and two sisters, Helen Starr and Lois Miles.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
