Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District personnel carry an injured motorcyclist to a waiting LifeFlight helicopter at Sunnyside Park Sunday afternoon, June 18, after his bike struck a car on Quartzville Road. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the cyclist, Michael Pfenning, 51, was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson heading eastbound on Quartzville Road when he crossed the double yellow line near milepost 12. According to Sheriff’s reports, the front tire of Pfenning’s motorcycle hit the driver-side door of a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner that was traveling westbound about 4:30 p.m. Pfenning, who had non-life-threatening injuries, and was flown to a nearby hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said. DMV records show his last address in Independence. The driver of the vehicle, Randy Williamson, 30, and his passenger, Jennifer Hoover, 25, both of Sweet Home, were not injured. There were no charges.
