Medics and rescuers assist the rider of a motorcycle that was struck by a car Friday afternoon, April 18, at the corner of 1st Avenue and Main Street. According to Sweet Home police, the department received multiple reports of a hit and run at that location shortly before 2:30 p.m. Police and medics found Donald Lee Gibbs, 63, of Sweet Home on the street next to his motorcycle, a 2017 Honda road-style bike. According to police, Gibbs was westbound on Main Street, turning left onto 1st Avenue. At the same time, based on witness statements to police, a black 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Kristina Larizza Boswell, 39, was headed north onto Main Street from 1st Avenue and failed to stop at the stop sign, striking the rear of the motorcycle. Police said Boswell left the scene. She was later located by citizens in the Strawberry Loop area and was arrested for felony hit and run and reckless driving. According to the police log, Boswell was lodged at Linn County Jail. Gibbs was transported by Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District medics to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
