Thousands turned out Saturday, March 11, to a farm between Holley and Crawfordsville to enjoy the Santiam Four-Wheel-Drive Association’s 48th annual Mud Fest.
The event, as usual, was sold out, with between 1,600 and 1,800 attendees, organizer Don Frick said.
“It went pretty well,” he said. “We had a lot of rain going into it. As everybody was leaving, we had a little rain too. It was pretty muddy. People seemed to have fun in it.”
It was a fairly typical day –people got stuck, and people were pulled out.
“People try things more (at the Mud Fest) because they know if they get stuck, there’s somebody there to put them on the trailer.”
Some 1,600 to 1,800 attended the event.
The festival started in 1969 on the east end of the Foster lake bed during low pool in January.
