Multiple vehicle crash on Hwy. 228

A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 228 near Sweet Home resulted in six injuries and significant vehicle damage, according to the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District. The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Monday evening, approximately half a mile east of Valley View Lane.

Randy Whitfield, battalion chief for Sweet Home Fire, reported that the incident happened at around 7:55 p.m. The collision is believed to have been initiated by an eastbound pickup truck sliding into a westbound van. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. A third car was subsequently struck, sustaining less severe damage, and the driver was unharmed.

Of the six individuals involved, four were transported to local hospitals by ambulance, while two others were taken by private vehicles. One of the injured is in serious, but non-life-threatening condition, while the others are considered stable.

This incident marked the ninth call of the day for the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, which had responded to their tenth call by the time of this report. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
