Myron “Marty” and Donna Martin of Salem celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 9 with a surprise party hosted by their children.
Donna Bohnstedt of Sunnyside and Myron Martin of Eugene were married on Oct. 10, 1954 in Foster. They took their honeymoon on the coast near Yachats.
Mrs. Martin is a graduate of Sweet Home High School. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Eugene High School. The couple met at the Lebanon Roller Rink.
Mr. Martin retired from a career as a control engineer working on coal and nuclear power plants in the United States, Japan and China. Mrs. Martin is a homemaker and before retirement was a licensed daycare provider. They were foster parents for 13 years.
Since retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Martin have enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren.
Their family includes a son, Randy and his wife, Sally, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and their two children, Stephanie and Tiffany, and a daughter, Amy Martin of Salem and her son, Taden.
