Myrtle Haney

Myrtle Harriett (Irwin) Haney, 84, of Lebanon, formerly of Sweet Home died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010.

She was born in Broadus, Mont., to Thomas and Nellie (Edwards) Irwin on Feb. 12, 1926.

Mrs. Haney lived in Broadus until she was eleven when the family moved to Kansas. She graduated from the eighth grade while living there.

The family moved to Brownsville where she graduated from high school.

Mrs. Haney married Harley Henderson in February 1946. They later divorced.

She raised her family in Brownsville then moved to Sweet Home in 1979 when she married Paul Haney.

The last four years of her life she spent in Lebanon in an assisted living facility.

She worked as a milker for two Brownsville dairy farms and retired from Peter Jensen’s Dairy in 1990 at age 64.

Mrs. Haney loved gardening, crocheting and crafts. She had a degree in master gardening and loved to spend every day in her garden. If she wasn’t gardening or crocheting, she was reading.

Mrs. Haney is survived by her children, Scott Henderson of Brownsville, Krystal Henderson and partner, Nancy Aguirre, of Tucson, Ariz., Stuart Henderson of Albany, Cathy Ader and husband, Dave, of Brownsville, Cindy Reynolds and husband, Joe, of Sweet Home, and Rodney Henderson of Sweet Home; brother, Albert Irwin of Brownsville; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her son, Gary Henderson; husband, Paul Haney; siblings, Tom Irwin, Jim Irwin, Hazel Stevens and Lois Mishler.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m.

Internment will follow at Liberty Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Boys Town.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
