Myrtle Shurts

Dec. 1, 1922 – March 8, 2011

Myrtle Shurts, 88, of Lebanon, died March 8, 2011. She was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Jerome, Idaho to Earl Dewey and Rozella Jeanette (Jenkins) Fisher.

She lived in Idaho until she was 16, moving to Oregon in 1939. She lived on Park Street in Lebanon for 55 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over the years as a teacher, Relief Society president, Young Women and Relief Society secretaries, visiting teacher and tent mom for girls camp.

Mrs. Shurts enjoyed reading, canning, gardening, and family games and activities.

She is survived by her children, Henry Wayne Shurts of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Larry Shurts of Pendleton, Sandra Simon of Albany, Rick Shurts of Lebanon and Terry Love of Tacoma, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Shurts; son Michael Dennis Shurts; sisters Alice Maud Minch and Lois Irene Carter; and brother Alvin Fisher.

Services were held Saturday March 12, 2011. Burial was at IOOF Cemetery in Lebanon.

Contributions may be made in Mrs. Shurts’ name to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund or Missionary Fund.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
