Naomi Thompson

Naomi A. Thompson, 78, of Sweet Home died March 7, 2009.

She was born June 28, 1930 in Evansville, Ind., to Cornelius and Ruth (Backstrom) Slack.

She moved to Oregon with her parents in 1940 and was raised in the Willamette Valley. She attended Bible Standard Institute from 1948 – 1951. She married Kenneth R. Thompson in 1951 and served in various church ministries most of their 57 years of marriage.

The Thompsons lived in Salem for 17 years, then to Las Vegas in 1985 before settling in Sweet Home in 1991.

Mrs. Thompson was employed at Moore Business Forms in Salem for 17 years. She was a member of Sweet Home Assembly of God and was a devoted Sunday School and church worker. She was talented at crafts, sewing and more.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Kenneth R. Thompson; sons Randall of Tacoma, Wash., Jeffrey of Halsey and Bradley of Salem; sister Eunice Slack of Salem; brother Jonathon of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers Erwin in 1928, Nathaniel in 1929 and Andrew in 2004; and a sister, Rebekah, in 1986.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 15, at the Assembly of God in Sweet Home.
