Nellie Markert

Nellie Marie Markert, 72, of Sweet Home died on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015.

She was born in Dolington, Penn., to James and Ruth Evelyn (Boyer) Sullivan.

She married John F. Markert on Dec. 14, 1963 in Sweet Home. She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home.

Mrs. Markert was a speech and language therapist for the school district for many years. She enjoyed working with special needs children.

She enjoyed painting, crafts, singing and walking, and she loved camping and the Oregon Coast.

Mrs. Markert is survived by her husband of 52 years, John F. Markert of Sweet Home; children, John Markert of Lebanon, Patty Flynt of Hillsboro, Wade Markert of Roseburg, Anna Jewell of Poulsbo, Wash .; brother James E. Sullivan of Seattle, Wash .; sisters, Ruth Mowry of Liberty, Penn., Mary Thompson of Philadelphia, Penn., and Patricia Hatch of Sweet Home; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Boyer.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Kids Food Pak program at Community Chapel.

A recitation of the rosary wwas held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home. A funeral mass followed the rosary.
