New district faculty include

Michael Anderson –

Social Studies, High School

Mr. Anderson graduated from Western Oregon University with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and a master’s in teaching. This is his first teaching assignment.

Derek Barnhurst – Vice-Principal/AD, SHJH

Mr. Barnhurst graduated from Bozeman-Montana State University with a bachelor’s degree and completed his master’s in education at the University of Oregon. He has eight years teaching experience. This will be his first administrative position.

Rachel Barton – ELL Coordinator, Language Arts, SHHS

Mrs. Barton obtained her bachelor of arts in English from West Virginia University and her master’s in teaching from Western Oregon University. This will be her first year teaching.

Carol Cadwell – Special Education/ Basic Life Skills, SHHS

Ms. Cadwell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Western Washington State College and a master’s in education from Western Oregon University. She has 19 years of teaching experience, eight in Washington and 11 in Oregon.

Bill Chandler – Automotive

Technology, SHHS

Mr. Chandler graduated from Lane Community College with an automotive technology degree and the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in music. He ran his own automotive business for nine years. This will be his first teaching assignment.

Matthew Clark – Vocal Music, Junior High & High School

Mr. Clark obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Oregon State University. This will be his first year teaching.

Nichole Gardner – Language Arts, SHHS

Ms. Gardner is a recent graduate of Oregon State University, where she completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English. This will be her first teaching assignment.

Kim Gillis – Speech/Language Pathologist

Ms. Gillis graduated from the University of Maryland with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and from University of Vermont with a master’s degree. She has 14 years experience as a speech pathologist, the last 10 with the Linn-Benton-Lincoln Education Service District.

Chris Hiassen – Language Arts, SHHS

Mrs. Hiassen is a graduate of Sweet Home High School and went on to Willamette University where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in teaching. She has 11 years experience as a teacher.

Pamela LaFollett – Language Arts, SHHS

Ms. LaFollett is a recent graduate of Oregon State University where she completed her bachelor’s degree in English and her master’s degree in teaching. This will be her first teaching assignment.

Jeff Neal – Social Studies, SHHS

Mr. Neal graduated from Western Oregon University with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in teaching. Mr. Neal is a first year teacher.

Shelly Roe – Counselor, SHJH

Ms. Roe completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Western Oregon University and her master’s degree in counseling at George Fox University. This will be her first assignment as a school counselor.

Brad Sperry – Assistant Principal, SHHS

Mr. Sperry graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree and completed his master’s in education at Linfield College. He has 21 years experience in education, eight as an administrator and 13 as a teacher.

Tim Swanson – Fifth Grade,

Holley Elementary

Mr. Swanson graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree and from the University of Colorado with his master’s degree. He has six years teaching experience, all in Colorado.

Blayne Watkins – Social Studies, SHJH

Mr. Watkins is a graduate of Sweet Home High School and completed his bachelor’s degree at Oregon State University. This is his first teaching assignment.

Toby Winningham – Second Grade, Foster Elementary

Mr. Winningham obtained his bachelor of science and master of education degrees from the University of Oregon. This will be his second year teaching.
