The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District received $4,490 in grant funds from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund in August to purchase firefighting equipment. The money enabled the district to buy two battery-powered positive ventilation fans to remove smoke and super-heated gases from burning structures. The new fans operate on batteries, which means they do not create carbon monoxide. They can also be plugged into electrical outlets on fire engines and trucks.
SHFD staff stated in a press release, “Sweet Home Fire is very grateful for the continued support that the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund has shown to the safety of our community.”
