Sweet Home Police Department Community Services Officer Gina Riley spoke to participants in the city’s National Night Out on Aug. 5 in Sankey Park. Some 40 people participated in the city’s first effort to have a centralized National Night Out community-wide celebration. NNO’s goal is to develop and promote a variety of crime reduction programs. Participants were served hot dogs and sodas, and had a chance to visit with police officers and other residents. Other, more localized, events were also held in town, Riley said.
