Northside Park trees are missed

Regarding Northside Park: Last summer, due to complaints of drug sales, the entire line of mature, flowering fruit trees on the north side of the park were completely removed. What was once a beautiful sight is now a rather dingy looking corner of Sweet Home.

If healthy, mature trees must be removed, can we not use common sense and an artful eye to retain the beauty to some degree? If every third tree would have been left to grow, the problem would have been solved and the priceless value of such trees could have been saved.

Why is it that we property owners bordering the park were not notified prior to so drastic an action? Those trees were priceless to us. Now they are forever gone and the drug deals continue in other hidden corners of the world.
