Obituary: Ambrose Sparhawk Jr.

Ambrose Dean Sparhawk Jr., 60, of Sweet Home died early on the morning of Jan. 25 at his home.

He was born Nov. 15, 1949 to Ambrose Dean Sr. and Lillith Irene (Morris) Sparhawk in Port Townsend, Wash.

Mr. Sparhawk served honorably in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He then moved to Sweet Home and worked in the timber industry, as well as on cars in the body and fender business. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and helped with the Food Pantry. He enjoyed reading, hunting and working on old cars.

Mr. Sparhawk is survived by his wife, Doris (Johnson) of Sweet Home; sons and daughters-in-law Roy and Angel Sparhawk of Springcreek, Nev., and Gary and wife Tianna Sparhawk of Sweet Home; daughter Tonya and son-in-law Greg Tagen of Sweet Home; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Juanita Hanby of Sweet Home and Suzzy and brother-in-law Glen Stone of Burlington, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his father (1966); mother (1982); and sister Betty Hinds (2005).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Church of Christ on 18th and Long Street in Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
