Obituary: Barbara Maxwell

Barbara Ann Maxwell, 66, of Sweet Home died on the afternoon of Nov. 14, 2009 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

She was born April 10, 1943 in Denver, Colo. and adopted by Harry Edger and Adelaide Marie (Decker) Mathews. Her foster mother was Matilda Cardin.

Mrs. Maxwell lived in many states from coast to coast, including Colorado, Southern California and Oregon before settling in Sweet Home in 1993.

She worked as a security guard in Oregon and Nevada and was a border guard on the Washington and Canadian border. She was a sergeant in the Oregon Defense Force from 1986 to 1993 and she and her husband Mike shared their respect, belief, love and participation in the Oregon Defense Force.

Mrs. Maxwell’s hobbies included traveling, camping, reading, working puzzles of all kinds and baking many varieties of breads.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Harderson of Hillsboro, Ill., Ron and daugher-in-law Jessica Harderson of Sweet Home, Lee and daughter-in-law Christina Harderson of Sweet Home, and Raymond Rosen of Littleton, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and a number of good friends.

Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Maxwell, in 1992; and foster mother Matilda Cardin in 2005.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
