Obituary: Betty J. Wysong

Betty J. Wysong, 84, of Lebanon died on Aug. 6, 2009 from Alzheimer’s disease at The Oaks in Lebanon.

She was born in Pleasant Lake, Ind., to Dale and Erdine (Cameron) Jackson.

She graduated valedictorian of her high school and with honors from business college.

She worked as a secretary on an Air Force base in Ft. Wayne, Ind., until World War II ended. After the GIs returned home, she reunited with longtime classmate Paul Wysong. They married in 1948. They moved to Winberry Creek Road in Fall Creek. She resided there until 2005 when she moved to The Oaks in Lebanon.

Mr. and Mrs. Wysong had two children, Thomas in 1949 and Sherry in 1950. They owned and operated Wysong Logging and Trucking Company in Fall Creek for many years until Mr. Wysong was disabled in an accident.

Mrs. Wysong was a talented Chinese brush painter and was a skilled flower gardener.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Wysong of Woodinville, Wash.; sisters Helen Newell of Oakland, Calif., and Janet Luttman of Hudson, Ind.; grandchildren, Brandy Wysong-Frick and husband, Travis, of Sweet Home, Stephanie Blachly and husband, Josh, of Sweet Home and Samuel Wysong Luke of Woodinville, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Brian Frick, Brett Blachly and Cade Blachly, all of Sweet Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1987; son, Thomas, in 1997; and sister Maxine in 2008.

A private family memorial service was held.
