Obituary: Blake Enos

Blake Elizabeth Enos, 93, of Sweet Home, died on the morning of Nov. 2 at Avamere Rehabilitation of Lebanon.

She was born Feb. 9, 1916 in Harrisburg to Anders Christian and Katharine Elizabeth (Williams) Christensen. She was a lifelong resident of the mid valley area. She married Fred Enos in Harrisburg on Nov. 23, 1936.

Mrs. Enos was a very active member of the Sweet Home Elkettes and was the first recipient of the Annual Blake Enos Award.

She loved to play bingo and pinochle with friends and pals. She was a proud chaperone of the Brownsville “Class of 1950” with her husband Fred.

Not being able to have children of her own, she loved everyone else’s.

She often mentioned her friends Larry and Marda Blem of Sweet Home and their grandchildren and often commented how proud they were of them.

Mrs. Enos is survived by her brother, Ben Christensen of Harrisburg; sister Elsie “Chris” Bryant of Sweet Home; nieces Jean Price of Prineville and Roxie Putman of Albany; nephews Clifford Christensen of Terrebonne, Cecil Christensen of Eugene, Charles Christensen of Harrisburg and Hubert Christensen of Harrisburg; “honorary daughter” Beverly Roth of Monmouth; and many grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Enos; parents; and brother, Leonard Christensen.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Gilliland Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at noon at the Sweet Home Elks Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Enos’ name may be made to the Elks Scholarship Fund, Evergreen Hospice serving Sweet Home or Sweet Home Ambulance Fire and Rescue.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
